‘A ‘u thu bikalimāti ‘llāhit-tāmmati min kulli shayṭānin wa hāmmah, wa min kulli `aynin lāmmah

3. Dua For Protection From Evil Eye For The One Who Is Blessed With More
It is an innate human nature to feel jealous. All of us have at least felt envious and not all jealousy is harmful or wrong!
The companions in the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) felt envy when they saw anyone do good deeds(عمل صالح). This was a good competition, as it motivated them to do more good deeds themselves.
However, it is not the same with evil eye. As This envy involves one to see another who is blessed, with ultimate admiration without attributing it to Allah or wanting the other person to lose his or her blessings.
we will dive deeper into the meaning of evil eyes in 2 parts (ayn) here.
Do you know what the prophet (peace be upon him) taught us the cure to envy and the evil eye was?
The cure is to pray for the one you envy!
Sahl ibn Hunayf reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “If one of you sees something from his brother, or in himself, or in his wealth which impresses him, then supplicate for him to be blessed in it. Verily, the evil eye of envy is real.” Sahih Al-Albani

Indeed, most times when we do (عبادة), it feels like we have to force ourselves to do it, isn’t it?
Yup! most times doing something good have to be forced until it became almost like a 2nd nature to you.
Imagine going to the gym regularly or adopting a healthy eating habit if you have never liked eating vegetables. It feels like a chore at first, doesn’t it?
Similarly, in doing something that will bring us closer to Allah like cleansing our heart from envy we have to force ourselves to say that we are happy for the people who had the things we have always wanted.
We have to nurture our heart to want good things for other people.
With time, (inshaallah!) you will WANT good things for people and pray for them and their happiness with a passion.
Remember that when you pray for others, the Malaikaat(angels) will pray for you the same and more.
Is it haram to wear evil eye jewelry?
Unfortunately many Muslims do not know that carrying “Quranic ayaats” that are wrapped in a cloth or wear the “evil eye” necklace as a form of protection from evil eye is a major sin.
My dearest Muslim brothers and sisters, believing any other things beside Allah as your sole protector is a form of “shirk”- associating Allah with partners.
You have to sincerely repent and do(توبة) ask Allah for forgiveness. We ask Allah who is the most merciful (الرحيم) to forgive us all. – آمين
