Allah! There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him, the Ever-Living, All-Sustaining. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who could possibly intercede with Him without His permission? He ˹fully˺ knows what is ahead of them and what is behind them, but no one can grasp any of His knowledge—except what He wills ˹to reveal˺. His Seat encompasses the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of both does not tire Him. For He is the Most High, the Greatest.

Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

There is a story behind the greatest Ayah in the Quran: Ayatul kursi, that Al-Bukhari recorded in his Sahih wherein Abu Hurayrah recounted the story of him meeting a thief while on a duty to watch over the sadaqah of Ramadhan.

This thief committed the same crime for 3 nights and when asked each time by the prophet ﷺ ,

Abu Hurayrah mentioned that he took pity on the thief because he had pleaded that he had dependants that was under his care.

The Prophet ﷺ, told Abu Hurayrah each time when he met Him ﷺ, in the morning that the thief was indeed lying and he will definitely come again.

On the third night, Abu Hurayrah managed to catch the thief and was sure to send him to the prophet ﷺ, because he broke his promise for the third,

the thief immediately offer to teach him the power of Ayatul kursi and when recited at night before bedtime, it will guard the him from Shaitan til dawn.

The prophet later revealed to Abu Hurayrah that the thief was indeed a liar but he spoke the truth.

The thief was indeed Shaitan.
